FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLANTA, [December 16, 2025]The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) has established the Foad Nahai Award for Patient Safety, a new global award recognizing exceptional contributions to patient safety in aesthetic medicine. MetroDerm’s Center for Plastic Surgery celebrates this significant milestone and the continued international impact of renowned board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Foad Nahai.

Introduced at the 2025 ISAPS Olympiad World Congress, the award recognizes individuals whose published, peer-reviewed research advances patient safety, strengthens standards of care, and promotes meaningful improvements in aesthetic surgery. The inaugural honor was presented to Dr. Matilde Tettamanzi for her study, “Optimizing Gynecomastia Correction Surgery: Efficacy and Safety of Tumescent Local Anesthesia Approach.”

The award is rooted in Dr. Nahai’s influential ISAPS Patient Safety Diamond, a globally recognized framework centered on four essential pillars of surgical safety: the patient, the procedure, the surgeon, and the surgical facility. Developed in response to the rise of international medical tourism, the Diamond framework continues to guide responsible aesthetic practices worldwide and helps distinguish properly trained, board-certified surgeons from unqualified or undertrained providers.

MetroDerm’s Center for Plastic Surgery aligns closely with the standards reflected in the Patient Safety Diamond. The practice emphasizes rigorous pre-surgical evaluation, evidence-based techniques, board-certified surgeons, and accredited surgical environments to ensure every patient receives ethical, high-quality, and safe care.

The establishment of the Foad Nahai Award for Patient Safety highlights the continued importance of advancing global safety standards and supports the mission of providers dedicated to excellence in aesthetic medicine.
