United Derm Adds Two Senior Executives to Business Development Team

Former Modernizing Medicine and Sound Physicians leaders will accelerate efforts to serve additional dermatology practices

Brian Hoffman, formerly with Sound Physicians and LifePoint Health, will serve as vice president of development and Shelley Olesen, formerly with Modernizing Medicine, has been appointed vice president of development.

Ms. Olesen brings more than 20 years of experience to United Derm, most recently serving as senior director of sales at Modernizing Medicine. During her nearly eight years at the firm―which owns EMA™, the #1 EHR for dermatologists―Olesen developed trusted relationships with dermatology practices all over the country. Prior to Modernizing Medicine, she held sales, consulting, patient care coordination and training roles at patientNOW, La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre and Mentor Solutions. Olesen’s direct practice experience informs her unique understanding of challenges faced by independent practitioners as well as her commitment to serving them.

Mr. Hoffman most recently served as vice president of acquisitions for Sound Physicians, an inpatient physician practice management firm, where he leveraged his strategy and development expertise to help improve quality and reduce costs within healthcare systems. Prior to that, he managed all physician practice and in-market acquisitions at LifePoint Health, and held business development and investment banking roles at e+CancerCare and Avondale Partners, respectively. Hoffman’s significant experience has given him a strong appreciation for the importance of a physician-centered approach to practice management.
